Movie Magic

My son just applied for a job at the local movieplex, and it reminds me how glad I am that I never got a job like this.

To me, the movie theater has been, and always will be, a place of magic, a place where I could go to escape from the outside world---at least for a couple of hours. I had some friends that worked in one when I was a kid, and once they let me work with them. I discovered that working in "magic" is just like learning the tricks of a real magic act; the luster is taken away, and all mysteries are revealed. I only did it that one night, and even though they asked (and the money was good), I never did it again.

I want to keep this place the way I remembered it.
